ESL May Host a CSGO Major in Rio de Janeiro
CS:GO is the most popular first-person shooter in the world, so when it comes to CS GO live matches, everyone is excited to watch them. Well, it looks like there are some great plans for 2022 regarding eSports CSGO, with ESL reportedly wanting to host a CS: GO Major tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
Will We See a Rio de Janeiro CS: GO Major?
ESL wants to host some CS: GO Major events in 2022, and apparently, they are actively planning to organize one of them in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is what a Dexerto report says. This all comes after ESL didn’t want to return to South America for any physical event for the last few seasons due to the coronavirus pandemic and the difficulties surrounding global travel.
So, according to Dexerto, ESL is planning on creating a CS: GO Major, which is now known as IEM (Intel Extreme Masters) Rio Major. The event may take place between October 31 and November 13, so when people check the CSGO matches today schedule, they may be delighted to see a new Major event.
But this is not official just yet, so nobody is sure if the plan will be fulfilled or not. ESL did reveal some discussions it had with Valve about how they were thinking about returning to Rio in 2022, as part of the first announcement for the 2022 Pro League schedule.
Back in May 2020, A CS: GO Major should’ve been hosted by Rio, but because of the COVID-19 situation, it was delayed to November 2020. In the end, though, it was canceled due to the situation still being severe, with no idea when things were going to improve.
The CS: GO Major from Rio de Janeiro would be the second event of the year sponsored by Valve. The last CS: GO Major organized by ESL took place back in 2020 between February and March.
When Is the Next CS: GO Major Going to Happen?
For now, it is anticipated that the possible Rio De Janeiro event will take place between October and December. This is not the first CS: GO Major of the year, though. The next major should happen in May 2022. At the moment, the dates are not known, but they should be announced soon.
HLTV said that Valve wants to host two CS: GO majors this year. This is great, especially considering how much people have been waiting to see more CS GO tournaments. Last year, many events were canceled or delayed, and everyone had to suffer, both best players CS GO and fans of the CS: GO eSports branch.
But things are about to improve soon and people can go back to enjoying what CS: GO eSport has to offer.
If you are excited for the next CS: GO eSport events, then you are probably happy knowing about two CS: GO Majors being planned for 2022. Although things are still not 100% confirmed, we should look forward with a positive attitude and hope that things will go accordingly.
